SaaS Distribution
Definition
Distribution is how a SaaS product gets in front of potential users. One low-cost, early-stage channel is directory listings — submitting the product to launch platforms, bio-link sites, and AI/tool directories to earn backlinks (SEO authority) and referral traffic.
Core Ideas
Directory listings
A curated list of ~100 directories that accept free SaaS/AI submissions, each rated by:
- Domain Rating (DR) — the site’s SEO authority; higher DR backlinks pass more value (e.g. Linktree DR 94, There’s An AI For That DR 77).
- Link type — dofollow links pass SEO authority; nofollow mostly drive referral traffic only.
- Submission status/queue — some high-value directories (e.g. There’s An AI For That) have multi-month queues.
Examples span link-in-bio pages (Linktree, bio.site), launch platforms (Fazier), and AI-tool catalogs (dang.ai, twelve.tools).
Why it works (and its limits)
Cheap, compounding SEO backlinks plus a trickle of high-intent referral traffic. But directories are a supplement, not a strategy — value concentrates in a few high-DR, dofollow, actively-trafficked sites; the long tail yields diminishing returns.
